Job Overview

The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for the strategic planning, direction, and operational control of all housekeeping activities to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and service excellence. This role involves rigorous budget management, staff development, and cross-departmental leadership to ensure a seamless guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, directing, and controlling of all Housekeeping cleaning activities across the property.
  • Ensure the consistent cleanliness, orderliness, and proper maintenance of all guest rooms, Food & Beverage outlets, and back-of-house areas.
  • Prepare the annual departmental budget for management approval and strictly control expenses in alignment with occupancy levels and budgetary constraints.
  • Plan and direct all training initiatives within the Housekeeping Department to ensure staff proficiency and service quality.
  • Manage relationships with external contractors for specialized services—including but not limited to window cleaning, plant maintenance, and pest control—to ensure work meets internal satisfaction standards.
  • Exercise strong leadership and effective communication when coordinating with other hotel departments to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Remain on standby at the hotel during emergency situations, such as typhoons, to ensure the safety of guests and the property.
  • Execute any other relevant projects or duties as assigned by senior management.

Requirements

  • F.5 or above with a Certificate or Diploma in Hotel Management.
  • Minimum 10 years’ supervisory experience in hotel industry with 5 years’ supervisory level in Housekeeping.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a focus on quality control and maintenance standards.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budget preparation and expense monitoring.
  • Ability to manage third-party vendors and staff arrangements effectively.
  • Strong leadership skills with effective communication with other departments.
  • Hands-on experience in all areas of housekeeping operations and experience in departmental training would be an advantage.
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin.
  • Detail-minded and possess high level of accuracy at work.
  • Proficiency in MS office applications especially Word and Excel.
