Job Overview

Keep all equipment in good repair with a minimum of downtime by providing direction of Engineering and hotel management. Continually work towards and support both guests and associates.

Responsibilities

  1. Repair and carry out preventative maintenance of electrical, mechanical, air-conditioning, refrigeration equipment, kitchen equipment, etc. Common tasks include painting, electrical accessory replacements and repair, and wiring. Air conditioners must also be cleaned or replaced regularly. 
  2. Respond to guest complaints or issues in a timely manner and must also fulfill work orders when issues cannot be resolved.
  3. Complete daily rounds, check on basic hotel accommodation, identify and report to Senior Duty Engineer of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that have taken place or that may occur.
  4. Carry pager/cell phone as required for on-call maintenance.
  5. Perform duties of safety and fire operation when need arise.
  6. Assist in keeping workshop areas, plant room and other equipment rooms clean.
  7. Respond promptly and positively to all guest requests.
  8. Work within expense limits established.
  9. Maintain inventory controls for cost effective operations.
  10. Schedule and complete the “Preventative Maintenance Program”.
  11. Coordinate special projects as directed by the Chief Engineer or Duty Engineer.
  12. Assist in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors.
  13. Maintain a professional courteous manner with all hotel guests, contractors, and fellow employees.
  14. Assure safety standards are used which comply with all company regulations and local ordinances.
  15. Ensure compliance of all work related activities in a fair, ethical, and consistent manner.
  16. Any other relevant projects and duties as assigned by superior.

Requirements

  1. At least four years of experience working as an Electrical or A/C technician in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting, including rough and finished carpentry.
  2. Experience in hospitality or hotel industry is an advantage.
  3. Registered electrical worker preferred.
  4. Acquire knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in both residential and commercial/industrial settings as well as methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment.
  5. Underwent apprenticeship program that included theory and on-the-job work.
  6. Hardworking and reliable; Responsive with good follow-up; Able to set priorities and meet deadlines; Attentive to details.
