Job Overview
Assist the Manager to ensure a most efficient operation to attain the maximum service to guest satisfaction. Supervise the restaurant employees and assist them whenever possible.
Responsibilities
- Work under the direct supervision and direction of the Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager.
- Ensure that the operation is running smoothly. Be prepared, when the need arises, to take orders and recommend special items. Ensures that the Hostesses and waiters/waitresses carry out their specific duties. Assist in greeting guests and seating them at the table.
- Punctual, efficient and above all courteous, assume at all times a pleasing and helpful attitude towards each guest and never speak in a loud voice to other employees. Constantly strive to give excellent friendly service.
- Relay any customer complaints regardless how small to the restaurant-in-charge.
- Be well-groomed and neatly dressed in the prescribed uniform. Never frequent the restaurant either on or off-duty unless in proper uniform.
- Aware of work schedule and give adequate notice.
- Thoroughly familiar with the restaurant’s menu and must be able to suggest wines and various items on the menu.
- Inspect the team member for neatness, cleanliness, etc., before the service of each meal.
- Help out in other departments in case of emergency, or to extend supervision to other areas in the absence of the other supervisors.
- Aware of all house rules not only obey them but assist in enforcing them.
- Maintain a friendly, neat and pleasant image to guests.
- Provide courteous service to guests and responds promptly and tactfully to guests’ enquiries, complaints and requests.
- Give guests immediate and complete attention to their complaints and requests.
- Take immediate remedial actions against complaints.
- Make sure the guests are satisfied with the services before they leave the outlet.
- Request assistance from the Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager or restaurant-in-charge if complaints and requests cannot be handled.
- Assist the Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager in directing and supervising hostesses and waiters/waitresses. Assume the responsibilities and duties of the Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager during specific hours.
- Give definite assignments to subordinates.
- See to it that the subordinates know their specific job performance standards.
- During the absence of the Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager, attend weekly team member meetings in order to keep up-to-date with the latest policies or policy changes.
Responsibilities (Con't)
- Greet and escort guests to their tables or calls upon hostesses to assist.
- Greet guests as they enter the outlet.
- Escort guests to their seats if no hostesses are available to assist.
- Present menu, answer questions and make suggestions regarding food and service.
- Thorough outlet menu knowledge is essential and the preparation and presentation of the menu.
- Train outlet employees, hold regular roll calls to discuss various aspects of the service and sources of complaints:
- Assist Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager in the training of new personnel
- Check if the new employees have undergone proper orientation procedures
- See to it that there is an adequate supply of outlet items, initiate requisitions for additional supplies if necessary:
- Check at the start of duty (within half-hour) that all the supplies in the station are at established par
- Know the requisition points of all supplies
- Assign hostesses to be in charge of all requisitions
- Comply with hotel policies and procedures.
- Any other relevant projects and duties as assigned by superior.
Requirements
- F.5 or above
- Minimum 3 year’s Hotel F&B Service and with 2 years in similar capacity
- Formal training in Hotel F&B Service
- Fluent in both spoken/written English and Chinese
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to provide customer service.
