Job Overview

Assist the Manager to ensure a most efficient operation to attain the maximum service to guest satisfaction. Supervise the restaurant employees and assist them whenever possible.

Responsibilities

  1. Work under the direct supervision and direction of the Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager.
  2. Ensure that the operation is running smoothly. Be prepared, when the need arises, to take orders and recommend special items. Ensures that the Hostesses and waiters/waitresses carry out their specific duties. Assist in greeting guests and seating them at the table.
  3. Punctual, efficient and above all courteous, assume at all times a pleasing and helpful attitude towards each guest and never speak in a loud voice to other employees. Constantly strive to give excellent friendly service.
  4. Relay any customer complaints regardless how small to the restaurant-in-charge.
  5. Be well-groomed and neatly dressed in the prescribed uniform. Never frequent the restaurant either on or off-duty unless in proper uniform.
  6. Aware of work schedule and give adequate notice.
  7. Thoroughly familiar with the restaurant’s menu and must be able to suggest wines and various items on the menu.
  8. Inspect the team member for neatness, cleanliness, etc., before the service of each meal.
  9. Help out in other departments in case of emergency, or to extend supervision to other areas in the absence of the other supervisors.
  10. Aware of all house rules not only obey them but assist in enforcing them.
  11. Maintain a friendly, neat and pleasant image to guests.
  12. Provide courteous service to guests and responds promptly and tactfully to guests’ enquiries, complaints and requests.
  13. Give guests immediate and complete attention to their complaints and requests.
  14. Take immediate remedial actions against complaints.
  15. Make sure the guests are satisfied with the services before they leave the outlet.
  16. Request assistance from the Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager or restaurant-in-charge if complaints and requests cannot be handled.
  17. Assist the Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager in directing and supervising hostesses and waiters/waitresses. Assume the responsibilities and duties of the Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager during specific hours.
  18. Give definite assignments to subordinates.
  19. See to it that the subordinates know their specific job performance standards.
  20. During the absence of the Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager, attend weekly team member meetings in order to keep up-to-date with the latest policies or policy changes.

Responsibilities (Con't)

  1. Greet and escort guests to their tables or calls upon hostesses to assist.
  2. Greet guests as they enter the outlet.
  3. Escort guests to their seats if no hostesses are available to assist.
  4. Present menu, answer questions and make suggestions regarding food and service.
  5. Thorough outlet menu knowledge is essential and the preparation and presentation of the menu.
  6. Train outlet employees, hold regular roll calls to discuss various aspects of the service and sources of complaints:
  7. Assist Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager in the training of new personnel
  8. Check if the new employees have undergone proper orientation procedures
  9. See to it that there is an adequate supply of outlet items, initiate requisitions for additional supplies if necessary:
  10. Check at the start of duty (within half-hour) that all the supplies in the station are at established par
  11. Know the requisition points of all supplies
  12. Assign hostesses to be in charge of all requisitions
  13. Comply with hotel policies and procedures.
  14. Any other relevant projects and duties as assigned by superior.

Requirements

  1. F.5 or above
  2. Minimum 3 year’s Hotel F&B Service and with 2 years in similar capacity 
  3. Formal training in Hotel F&B Service
  4. Fluent in both spoken/written English and Chinese
  5. Good communication and presentation skills
  6. Good interpersonal skills and ability to provide customer service.
