Job Overview
Assist with month-end closing and to manage finance matter of the hotel.
Responsibilities
- Approve all vouchers and bills prior to submission to the Director of Finance & Assistant Financial Controller for payment.
- Ensure that all necessary documents are attached and duly processed, with approvals from those certifying receipt of goods or services regarding quality, quantity, and price.
- Verify cost centre distributions and ascertain the availability of funds for disbursements.
- Cancel all documents attached to each paid voucher.
- Scrutinize the monthly trial balance of accounts payable.
- Investigate overdue balances and verify the correctness of old balances cleared during the previous month.
- Supervise the Accounts Assistant in reporting insurance claims for the hotel.
- Coordinate with all concerned departments regarding insurance claims.
- Follow up on outstanding insurance claims for staff injuries in collaboration with the Human Resources Department.
- Conduct continuous audits of all accounts, records, and transactions of the hotel.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of monthly closing journal entries, balance sheets, profit and loss schedules, and cash flow statements.
- Verify that monthly inventory computations correspond with the General Ledger.
- Ensure that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and that reconciliation schedules are on file.
- Prepare and scrutinize monthly financial reports, investigating unusual variations and adding comments as necessary.
- Assist in the preparation of forecasts and budgets, as well as other requested reports or studies.
- Implement local practices to ensure compliance with regulations issued by local government agencies, after approval by Hotel Management.
- Ensure that all contributions and license fees are paid on time.
- Supervise and assist in staff planning within the Finance department.
- Maintain detailed records of all fixed assets of the hotel.
- Categorize assets according to hotel policy.
- Control the quantity of recorded assets and verify the purchase and disposal of fixed assets.
- Provide support to all sections whenever needed to ensure smooth operations.
- Any other duties or projects as assigned by the superior(s).
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Finance and/or Accounting or its equivalent, preferably a Certified Public Accountant.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant local statutory requirements.
- Familiar with Hong Kong accounting standard and hotel industry practices.
- Minimum 3 years’ working experience in the hotel industry.
- Proficiency in MS Office application, accounting system and procurement system.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Well independent and high integrity.
- Attentive to details with good time management.
