Job Overview

Responsible for strategic planning of environmental and hygiene programs, identifying and managing significant industrial hygiene aspects, conducting related training programs for all L'hotel properties, and managing interfaces with governmental authorities in order to assure that the L’hotel properties’ practices and environmental and hygiene assessments are fully complied with the legal requirements and thoroughly completed on a timely basis.


Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Management

  1. Assist to develop and deploy environmental health and safety (EHS) assessment directives and standards;
  2. Assist to drive continual improvement in accordance with the international audit standard of ISO14001 : 2015 and ensuring the annual forecasts are achieved;
  3. Liaise with the external waste contractors to ensure the storage and removal of all wastes are operating in a legally compliant and safe manner at all times;
  4. Review and propose target achievements for all L’hotel properties include programs, certifications and awards.
  5. Develop and deliver EHS training programs for all L'hotel properties.
  6. Train and provide support to operations in the development and execution of consistent environmental health and safety management programs in order to protect employees and educate them on how to prevent health problems through the use of safety equipment and tools.
  7. Inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards.
  8. Ensure material safety data sheets for all chemicals used on site are maintained, updated regularly and are accessible to all employees.
  9. To be an active member of Occupational Health and Safety Committee.

Responsibilities (Con't)

Hygiene Management

  1. Ensure all aspects of the hygiene service are carried out and in compliance with the regulations, licensing conditions and codes of practice;
  2. Assist to develop & deploy hygiene assessment directives and standards, benchmarking HACCP or ISO 22000 standards.
  3. Provide in-house training for the food handlers on the proper food handling practices and ensure their observance to the standards set.
  4. Review and propose target achievements for all L’hotel properties include programs, certification and awards.
  5. Conduct risk assessment and document safe systems of work for all hygiene tasks.
  6. Identify key areas of risk in various food operations for early remedial actions.
  7. Monitor the health condition of food handlers and to arrange medical examination or suspension of work when necessary.
  8. Monitor the work of the Hygiene Supervisor and Hygiene Manager (if any).
  9. Handle complaints or enquiries from customers on food hygiene matters.
  10. Act as a focal point of contact with the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department.
  11. Conduct regular checks on the personal, environmental and food hygiene conditions of the food establishment and keep records on the findings.
  12. Manage the hygiene budget and ensure all expenditure is authorized and recorded.
  13. Maintain detailed cleaning instructions and schedules for every hygiene activity that meet the requirements of the standards.
  14. Develop audit hygiene schedules and work instructions to ensure all regulatory inspections and certification audits are passed.  Conduct compliance audits / inspections of internal hygiene standards and documentation.
  15. Manage the provision of hygiene chemicals and review regularly with chemical supplier, periodic chemical dosing checks, maintenance of equipment and oversee the safe storage, transport and use of chemicals at L’hotel properties.
  16. Work with suppliers to obtain the most suitable and cost effective equipment and consumables and effectively manage supplier who is non-conformance in a timely manner.
  17. Support the engineering team in obtaining water samples for testing and participating in microbiological investigations or projects to drive improvements in hygiene standards.
  18. Communicate effectively with all team members on a regular basis and provide opportunities for feedback and two-way communication.
  19. Any other relevant projects and duties as assigned by superior.


  1. Master Degree in industrial hygiene or a related subject in engineering;
  2. 8-10 years of experience in comprehensive industrial EHS and hygiene practices within a corporate environment;
  3. Experienced in working within a compliance / standards driven environment - ISO14001 : 2015 and ISO22000 : 2018, managing and leading an EHS and hygiene team within a hotel environment;
  4. Professional certification in Hygiene Management is required, preferably HACCP ISO22000 internal auditor;
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and motivate employees;
  6. Competent in MS Windows Office Suite application;
  7. Excellent proficiency in English and Cantonese.
