Job Overview

The incumbent is accountable for planning, organizing and overseeing the daily operation of the whole group in engineering, energy management, preparing and controlling the budget, dealing with contractors regarding repair and maintenance, renovation works, handling license application and arrangement for all M&E and building repair works.

Responsibilities

  1. To be responsible for preparing budget for major overhauling and installation of machinery, repair and maintenance of physical plant and controlling all departmental expenses.
  2. To supervise and direct the engineering team to carry out their tasks efficiently and effectively in compliance with the hotel policies and procedures.
  3. To evaluate the effectiveness of the hotel maintenance works and make sure that corrective actions are being taken promptly wherever needed.
  4. To oversee the installation, repair and maintenance of operation equipment, such as calorifiers, chillers, pumps, ventilating systems, compressors, air-conditioners, refrigerators and other cooling or heating systems etc.
  5. To establish preventative maintenance program to assure guests and staff of a comfortable environment to stay or to work in.
  6. To analyze and monitor the energy consumption for hotel utilities and recommend measures to save energy.
  7. To maintain a complete file of drawings’ specifications and equipment manuals for all equipment contained within the hotel premises.
  8. To go through the Engineering Log Book daily and take necessary action as required.
  9. To make recommendation to the hotel in-charge regarding the replacement of inefficient or obsolete equipment.
  10. To work closely with the team and maintain a cordial relationship with all department heads.
  11. To provide training for subordinates to ensure all staff are capable to perform their tasks satisfactorily.
  12. To maintain a quality work force of the department by interviewing and selecting prospective employees.
  13. To manage the hotel facilities and project management.
  14. To handle licensing and certificate matters with government departments.
  15. Report duty under typhoon signal hoisted and rainstorm condition and stay in the hotel if necessary.
  16. Any other relevant projects and duties as assigned by superiors.

Responsibilities (Con't)

  1. Prepare and control the budget, dealing with contractors regarding repair and maintenance, A&A works, renovation works, handling license application and arrangement with the hotel engineering teams for building services and engineering repair works.
  2. Establish and implement preventative maintenance programs for all E&M matters and equipment.
  3. Supervise and direct the teams on renovation projects to align with the group’s strategies.
  4. Analyse and monitor the energy consumption for the utilities and recommend measures for energy saving.
  5. Ensure a safe environment for guests and employees and fulfil the compliance requirements.

Requirements

  1. Holder of Higher Diploma/Degree in Engineering/Building Services/Mechanical or related disciplines.
  2. Holder of Certificate of Registration of Electrical Worker in Grade B.
  3. Certified Competent Person for working in confined space.
  4. Holder of Certificate of Construction Industry Safety Training
  5. Thorough knowledge of the entire hotel fire system.
  6. At least 12 years’ experience in managing hotel facilities and project management.
  7. Knowledge in handling licensing and certificate matters with government departments.
  8. Knowledge in energy conservation, HVAC system and building services.
  9. Able to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
  10. Responsible and reliable, initiative, aggressive and mature.
  11. Sound leadership and management skills.
  12. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  13. Good command of written and spoken Cantonese, English and Putonghua.
