Job Overview
As the lead of the Media Relations team in the Corporate Communications Department, the job holder is responsible for developing and executing effective media relations and publicity strategies to build and safeguard the Chinachem Group brand. They play a key role in shaping Chinachem’s narrative by delivering timely, relevant, and compelling communications materials for both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Media Relation and Branding
- Design and implement high-impact communications and media relations strategies and campaigns to effectively elevate Chinachem’s brand and thought leadership
- Collaborate with business units on both proactive and reactive media engagements at the corporate level
- Establish and cultivate relationships with media, and staying abreast of the latest developments in the media landscape across Hong Kong and Mainland China
- Take a proactive and creative approach to craft stories and pitch media interviews that communicate the Group’s strategy and innovations, and respond to media inquiries in a timely and accurate manner
- Plan and execute media events, including press conferences, briefings, luncheons and tours
- Provide reports and analysis on media coverage, industry trends and best practices
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for awards and media sponsorships, and collaborate with various business units to manage award submissions and media sponsorships
Content Development
- Develop key messages, narratives, talking points, speeches, press releases, and other corporate literature content to effectively communicate Chinachem's vision, mission, and initiatives to internal and external stakeholders
- Research stories from across the Group and create compelling content to enhance public understanding of Chinachem’s purpose and values
Crisis Management
- Maintain crisis communication protocols, conduct risk assessments, and ensure the Group is equipped to respond swiftly and effectively to potential reputational threats
- Lead real-time communication efforts during crises, including gathering stakeholder feedback, crafting key messages, managing media inquiries, and ensure accurate public messaging
Requirements
- University degree in Communications, Journalism, Business Administration, Marketing or relevant qualification
- At least 10 years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, public affairs, and at least 2 years of team management experience
- Outstanding proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese
- Track record of running creative and successful PR and communications campaigns to achieve business goals and enhance brand visibility
- Experience of working in a complex business organisation, real estate or financial industry, and/or agency background is an advantage
- Sound knowledge of media landscape and trends, as well as strong network with media in Hong Kong and Mainland China preferred
- Ability to influence others with appropriate self-confidence and presence
- Team player and self-starter with leadership skills, can-do attitude and collaborative mindset
- Solid project management and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadline and pressure
- Candidates with lesser experience will be considered for the role of Assistant Manager
